Minor league baseball is coming to Ypsilanti in 2009

The Windy City Thunderbolts win a nail bitter in the final game of the weekend series against the Midwest Sliders. The Sliders fell 4-2 in a pitching duel that came down the last play. The Thunderbolts put a three spot in the 8th inning on three consecutive hits following a walk which was all they needed.

Sliders had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the 9th inning with runners on second and third, but 2B Sam DeLuca flew out to end the game. DH Jimmy Baker went 2-3 and picked up his 12th RBI of the season, which leads the Sliders.

LHP Chris Nyman made his debut for the Sliders throwing 3 1/3 innings allowing three runs off six hits and suffered the loss. RHP Nick Hall picked up his first win for Windy City as RHP Dylan Axelrod earned the save.

Midwest Sliders (6-4) will host the Rockford Riverhawks (2-7) on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at EMU’s Oestrike Stadium.
