Thunderbolts Get Even with Sliders

CRESTWOOD, ILL, June 6, 2009

The Windy City Thunderbolts used a dominating pitching performance to win 9-0 and even up the series with the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.

Ross Strout threw 7 innings of scoreless baseball while striking out ten Midwest batters’ on way to earning his first win of the season. Midwest did spray 8 hits off Stout but none scored, and they were all singles. Midwest did outhit the Thunderbolts 10 to 9 but four errors and timely hitting helped the Thunderbolts put up nine runs.

Chris Nyman suffered the loss for the Sliders only pitching two innings and allowing five runs. The loss drops the Sliders to 8-7 and third place in the East division of the Frontier league, 1.5 games behind the Kalamazoo Kings.

Tomorrow’s rubber match is featuring James Albury (0-0, 3.14 ERA) for the Sliders, and Stephan Flake (0-1, 6.14 ERA). The Sliders will look to take the series before heading home to play Florence Freedom on Tuesday at EMU’s Oestrike Stadium.
